Frequently asked questions
Everything buyers ask before a first order — interchangeability, material coverage, custom work and delivery.
Ordering & supply
Which materials do the VPOINT Carbide inserts cover?
The range spans the full ISO material-group system: P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous and aluminium), S (superalloys and titanium) and H (hardened materials). Turning, milling, grooving, threading and Swiss-type geometries are available across these groups.
Are VPOINT inserts compatible with holders from other brands?
Yes, for the ISO-standardised families. Inserts designated to ISO 1832 (CNMG, DNMG, WNMG, APKT, RPMT and similar) share the same seat geometry as the established brands, so they fit the corresponding holders. Proprietary grooving and threading families are listed with the holder series they match; always confirm before production.
Does VPOINT offer OEM and ODM production?
Yes. VPOINT is a manufacturer, not a trading company. We produce customer-branded inserts and custom geometries to drawing, including non-standard profiles, corner radii and edge preparations, with your artwork on the packaging.
How do I get a quotation or a certified drawing for a specific insert?
Send the ISO designation or your drawing through the enquiry form, e-mail or WhatsApp. Technical drawings and certification are available on request for every catalogue item.
What are the delivery options?
Stock items ship from our facility in China; custom production runs are quoted with a lead time. VPOINT ships worldwide and works with the freight arrangement that suits your forwarder.
Technical
How do I read an ISO insert designation such as CNMG120408?
The first letter is the shape (C = 80° rhombic, S = square, T = triangle, and so on), the second is the clearance angle (N = 0°, C = 7°), the third is the tolerance class, and the fourth describes the hole and chipbreaker form. The following digits carry the IC size code, the thickness code and the corner radius. VPOINT prints each of those fields separately on every item page so you do not have to decode the string by hand.
Why are some specification fields shown as a dash?
Because the source catalogue for that item does not carry the value, and VPOINT does not estimate specifications. A dash means the data is not published yet — request it and engineering will supply it from the drawing, usually the same day.
Do you publish cutting speeds and feeds?
Only against a specific application. Recommended parameters depend on the workpiece hardness, the machine rigidity, the holder overhang and whether the operation is roughing, semi-finishing or finishing, so a single table would be misleading. Send the workpiece material and setup and engineering returns validated numbers.
Can I get a certified drawing for an insert?
Yes. Technical drawings are available on request for every item in this catalogue, including for the items whose page shows a generated geometry schematic rather than a photograph.
Do you supply under our own brand?
Yes. VPOINT manufactures in-house and produces customer-branded inserts and custom geometries to drawing, including non-standard profiles, corner radii and edge preparations. Artwork and packaging can carry your mark.

Engineering answers enquiries, not a call centre. Send the workpiece material, the operation and the machine, and you will get a grade recommendation rather than a catalogue page.
